Pilates exercises develop a strong "core", or the “body’s power house” as Joseph Pilates called it. This will not only improve on your esthetics but more importantly support your back.
Short, bulky muscles are more prone to injury. Pilates works on the stability muscles first, improving muscle elasticity and joint mobility, building the type strength and flexibility that is less likely to incur injuries.
Most conventional workouts tend to work the same muscles leading to weak muscles to get weaker and strong muscles to get stronger, resulting in muscular imbalance and injury. Pilates conditions the whole body, training the entire musculature evenly and enhancing your performance in your preferred activities and sports.
Through its smooth, continuous movements Pilates will re-train your body to move in a safer, more efficient patterns of motion leading to injury recovery, better sports performance and good posture.
Many of the exercises are performed in reclining or sitting positions, and most are low impact and partially weight bearing. Pilates is so safe, it is used in physical therapy facilities to rehabilitate injuries.
Through a wide range of modifications and the use of small and large equipment the teacher will lead you though a wide range of difficulties to suit your individual needs and we promise you will be challenged whatever your level.
Whether you are an athlete or a body builder or someone that works in an office Pilates will provide you with something that is right for you.

Valentina first qualified in Yoga earning a Yoga Campus diploma in 2011 and is British Wheel of Yoga Certified. She coupled that with study, self practice and experiential knowledge of Pilates being coached by APPI and STOTT qualified teachers.
In 2015 she undertook a formal teacher training diploma and qualified as a STOTT Pilates teacher and later as an APPI qualified instructor (a form of physiotherapy enhanced Pilates).
She is also qualified in Sports Massage and is studying at University College of Osteopathy for a MOst in Clinical Osteopathy, which combines academic and clinical, ‘hands-on’, work.
Excellent. Valentina guides me very sensibly, she is patient, and on the rare occasion that I am not wholly well she accommodates the practice in a supportive manner.
BC - Male 76
I have been doing pilates twice a week with Valentina for the last year and am writing this reference as I am moving out of the area next week and our sessions will come to an end.
When I started sessions, I had recently suffered a serious back injury involving months of specialist medical care- my movement was very restricted, and I was in a lot of pain. I had had a course of physiotherapy (which hadn't helped much), months of antibiotics, and had been advised to take strong pain medication.
I was 100% confident with Valentina’s level of knowledge and professionalism as a pilates teacher (and as a medical doctor myself, I am not easily impressed).
The sessions were varied and fun. Though I was encouraged to work hard, I felt Valentina was extremely attentive to what I needed from each session. She adapted exercises for me and I felt confident to move without risking injury and soon started making progress. I have now made a full recovery to have a normal range of movement, no medications and no pain and continue to improve in strength and flexibility.
